The Most Powerful Question
As I reflect on my own trials and observe others facing their challenges, a recurring question emerges: What distinguishes those who overcome their struggles from those who succumb to them?
While the answer is undoubtedly complex, I believe it ultimately boils down to one fundamental question: Why?
Behind every action lies a motive, and it's our responsibility to delve into the understanding of our actions and reactions.
Why am I triggered?
Why do I respond in this particular manner?
Why does that bother me?
Answering these questions requires approaching them with curiosity and without judgment. Instead of criticizing or punishing ourselves, we should extend the same love and understanding that I wrote of earlier.
Loving ourselves means accepting our humanity, acknowledging our mistakes, and learning from them. We make mistakes and that is okay. We can focus on the making of the mistake or we can learn from it.
Love ourselves because we get up time and time again and we keep trying. Love ourselves because, at our core, we deserve love simply for being who we are.
Understanding ourselves is like peeling an onion, requiring us to pull back the layers until we come to the core of what makes us tick. It is our willingness to engage in this process and our ability to accept the answers, whether pleasant or uncomfortable, that makes all the difference.
Sometimes, the insights we uncover will be illuminating, providing a newfound understanding previously shrouded in darkness. Other times, they may feel like a harsh truth, disrupting our core beliefs.
I've devoted years to this journey of self-discovery, and I can attest that it's not easy but it's incredibly rewarding. The willingness to ask "why" and to accept the answers determines whether we falter or rise.
I extend an invitation to join me in this exploration. Together, let's peel back the layers and unearth the strength within you that may have been buried.
